Organize, Organize, Organize!
There are literally, hundreds of details involved when planning a corporate event or wedding that you need to make that list and check it twice. Even if you're not the best organizer, there is lots of help out there to help assist you. One great one is The Wedding Planner , a Virginia based magazine and online planner. They help you think of things that you never thought of and give you the online tools to assist in documenting your plans
Plan What Relaxes You
It's always fun to plan a team building event or get the bridesmaids or groomsmen together the day before the big event. But if jetskiing or wakeboarding isn't your thing, don't do it! If you are the type of person who prefers a massage or a round of golf, plan that activity instead. You will be more relaxed and have a better frame of mind the day of the big event.
Don't Take on the Roll of Your Vendors
Be sure to choose your vendors carefully whether it be the venue, caterer, florist or events consultant. Once you have done the work of researching, interviewing, and checking references, let your vendors do their job! You hired them so you could take the stress off of yourself and concentrate on your core competency...let them concentrate on theirs.
Stay Hydrated and Eat Nutritiously
While you are running around worrying about the details, be sure to hydrate and eat nutritious meals that will give you sustained energy. There is nothing like having a sugar low right before you event is about to begin. Carry powerbars with you and a full water bottle at all times. In those crucial times, that could make the difference between a successful event and passing out!
